Best Inflatable Hot Tub – 8 Models To Buy

Our site is reader supported, this means we may earn a small commission from Amazon and other affiliates when you buy through links on our site.

Who doesn’t want to relax in a bubbling pool of 40 degrees water with 87 soothing air jets gently massaging your body?! We look at some of the important features which make a great hot tub as well as review 8 of the best inflatable hot tubs that we could find.

We first reviewed inflatable hot tubs around 4 years ago and as we do more research and write our latest update, we have noticed a few things have changed in the inflatable hot tub market. The first thing is price, a few years back, a good inflatable hot tub would have started at around £360 for one of the 2-4 person lay-Z-Spa models. Today you can easily pick one up online for around £320 so the good news is they have become even more affordable.

The quality seems to be better on some of the newer models as manufacturers have updated them. Previous models which had both air jets and hydrojets could not be run at the same time, now they can be run at the same time for a even better massage which is a positive improvement.

In this article, we start off with our buyer’s guide which will tell you everything you need to know to help you choose the right model for you. We have some of our favourite picks mixed in too before finishing the article with 8 of our favourite models where we review each model in closer detail and discuss the pros and cons as well as the different features and our overall thoughts. Finally, we finish up by looking at 4 accessories you can buy to make your experience even more enjoyable.

BEST PICK

Lay-Z-Spa Vegas Hot Tub, Airjet Inflatable Spa
If you just want to know which hot tub is probably the most popular choice for most people, we think you cannot go wrong with the Lay-Z-Spa Vegas Hot Tub and it is the model we would recommend every time. It has enough space to comfortably fits up to 4-6 people so it is great for families.

Inflatable Hot Tub Buyers Guide

With so many different inflatable hot tubs on the market, it can be hard to decide which model is right for you. There are now a number of features you can choose from which include ‘integrated ClearSoft Water Treatment Systems’, LED Lighting systems and HydroJet Massage Systems to name just a few.

One thing all good inflatable hot tubs have to have in common is that they are easy to set up and only take a few minutes.

All the models we recommend had to be very easy to set up, no exceptions, this is obviously essential as you are not likely to be a professional hot tub fitter. And more often than not you will have to take it down when you are finished and put it back up again as and when you want to use it.

In fact, they are so simple that most models can be set up, inflated and ready to fill within 10 minutes. It usually takes 1-2 hours to fill most hot tubs with water and around 12-24 hours to heat up the water.

As we have already mentioned, if you have a mixer tap you may be able to connect a hose and fill the hot tub with water from there, that way, it is ready to use in 2 hours instead of waiting 24 hours for it to heat up using the hot tubs own heater.

RUNNER UP

Mspa Alpine M-009LS Inflatable Hot Tub
You can set your desired temperature, activate the filter pump and heater system with an intuitive control panel and without getting out of the tub. This hot tub deserves consideration and even one of the most affordable

Most hot tubs are very similar in design, however, there a few features which if you are new to inflatable hot tubs that you may not have thought about. Below we go over the different features and what to consider when choosing the right hot tub for you. After all, Lazy-Spa has 6 different models so what the difference and why would you choose one model and not the other.

Hot Tub Size & Capacity

One of the first decisions you will probably have to make is to decide what size hot tub you need. The most common sizes are 2-4 person or 4-6 person hot tubs. We recommend buying the larger 4-6 person size if you have the room as there is nothing worse than buying a hot tub and wishing you had purchased a larger size. After all, it is unlikely you would wish you had opted for a smaller hot tub if you have space! You can get a smaller hot tub for around £360 and a larger 4-6 person one for around £40 more so it is well worth paying a little extra.

Something else to note is with a 2-4 person hot tub is that two people together leave plenty of room but four adults in some models can be a bit of a squeeze. A quick read of some of the reviews on Amazon will give you an idea of size.

Quality and construction method

How the hot tub is manufactured and constructed has a larger impact on its quality, durability and resistance to punctures as well as its overall performance. In general cheaper models are constructed using a horizontal ring construction which is okay but the sides are generally not firm enough to sit on.

The best hot tubs tend to be constructed using what is known as an I-Beam construction. The sides are generally more stable and firm and usually do not buckle or bend under your weight if you sit on the sides.

Most of the hot tubs that made it onto our list use this method of construction as we feel it really is an essential design feature.

Micro Air Jets vs Hydrojets

Most models are fitted with Micro Air jets that encircle the perimeter of the floor. Depending on the size of the hot tub there are usually between 81 and 120 jets. These produce thousands of bubbles and do a really good job which is why they are fitted to nearly all models. However, there is another type of jet which uses water called Hydrojets which are now fitted to some models and they are well worth considering if you have the budget as they take massager to another level.

Now fitted to a limited number of hot tubs (including the spectacular Palm Springs HydroJet hot tub) there are usually around 8 powerful, flow-adjustable and directional water jets, you simply twist the jets to adjust the pressure to your needs and tilt the nozzles to aim them where you desire. Many people find that these give a better massage experience, are usually quieter but all this comes at a substantial extra cost, that being said you get the experience of a professional fixed hot tub at the fraction of the price compared to fixed models (non-inflatable).

BEST COUPLES PICK

Lay-Z-Spa Siena Airjet Inflatable Hot Tub
The Lay-Z-Spa Siena Hot Tub is a brilliant choice for couples and we really like the overall design. This offers more than enough space for some quality time with your loved one. Even more, this hot tub offers a therapeutic solution to body pains and sore muscles.

Don’t forget to check out my best hot tub surround picks here

Water Treatment Systems

All hot tubs come with a filter system that needs to be cleaned regularly and these are usually very affordable to replace. However, you need to remember that you still need to add chemicals to disinfect the water and stop the accumulation of algae. You can buy a set called Clearwater Pool chemical Kit and this has everything you need to get you started so it is well worth purchasing when you buy a new hot tub.

LED Lighting

This is not a feature for everyone but some models such as the Lay-Z-Spa Paris have a built-in LED lighting system that can be set to phase through seven different colours or be set to a colour of your choice to set the mood. Great talking point for parties or relaxing with a loved one.

Timer controlled heating systems

Most hot tubs manufactured by Lay-Z-Spa now come with a timer control system as standard. You can use it to schedule when the hot tub heater system is activated and this is perfect for ensuring the heater system is only on when required, which in turn, saves both energy and reduces the running cost.

It’s important to note that if you plan on using your hot tub in the evening you will need to put the heater on first thing in the morning. You may find that if you turn the heater down, but not off, and then turn it back up a few hours before you plan on using it may be a better option. If you use it less frequent then this is obviously not going to be cost-effective and it is just easier to turn it on the day.

Warranty

Most models come with a12 month warranty and it is important to note that usually, you get 6 months warranty on the actual hot tub and 12 months on the pump and electronics. It’s worth noting that you can extend the warranty on most Lay-Z-Spa hot tubs by an extra 6 months by registering your product online which is well worth doing and it is free.

Best Inflatable Hot Tub Reviews

1. Lay-Z-Spa Vegas Inflatable Hot Tub

BEST PICK

Buy on Amazon

Lay-Z-Spa Vegas Hot Tub, Airjet Inflatable Spa, 4-6 Person

The Lay-Z-Spa Vegas Hot Tub is probably the most affordable 4-6 person hot tub which is one of the reasons we have chosen it as our ‘Best Pick’. You get a good-sized hot tub for a more affordable price without compromising on quality or its performance.

It has all the great features of the 2-4 person Miami hot tub but has a slightly different construction which is the secret to manufacturing a larger 4-6 person hot tub while still keeping it very affordable.

  • Set the temperature of the water up to 40°C (104°F) using the rapid heating system.
  • 87 all-surrounding air jets that encircle the perimeter of the floor for a soothing massage experience.
  • Easy to set up in 10 minutes. Simply layout and inflate using the included pump and you are ready to fill with water.
  • Comfortably fits 4-6 people making it the place to be when relaxing with friends and family.
  • Strong and durable quad horizontal ring construction for extra strength, durability, while still offering excellent value for money.
  • Digital control panel to set the temperature to your liking up to a 40°C (104°F).
  • Timer controller heater allows you to schedule the activation and duration of your heater pump to your own needs.
  • Includes setup DVD to show you how to successfully set up the hot tub in minutes and everything you need to do step by step.
  • Inflated size: 196cm x 61cm (77″ x 24″).
  • Water Capacity (80%): 848L (224 Gal).
  • Power cable length: 7 meters.
  • 12 months warranty for full peace of mind.

Just like all the hot tubs from the ‘Lay-Z-Spa range’, the Vegas Hot Tub is still designed to be very low maintenance and easy to install. In fact, it actually only takes around 10 minutes to set up and inflate the using the included pump despite being a little larger in size.

Once inflated, simply fill with water and the rapid heating system will do the rest and heat the water up to 40°C (104°F). The 87 all-surrounding air jets around the floor ensure you can relax in soothing bubbles and let all your problems drift away.

As you would expect from one of the best hot tubs it also features a control panel for controlling the water temperature, the air jet system, as well as controlling when the heater is activated to suit your busy life. Want to relax after work? No problem set it to come on 10 hours before.

Finally, as you would expect, it also has a water filtration system that ensures your water is kept clean. The filters housing holds two filter cartridges that constantly filter the water.

As you have probably read several times by now, you still need to use spa chemicals to keep the water safe which can be purchased on eBay or Amazon at really good prices.

Our recommendation

The Lay-Z-Spa Vegas Hot Tub is probably the one of the best 4-6 person hot tub out of all the brands available and certainly one of the most affordable currently available right now. We did notice that you can now buy this model with ‘ChemConnect’ which fastens to the inside of the hot tub and keeps the water even cleaner and clearer. However, the cost is much more expensive so whether it’s worth the extra cost we are not sure.

Overall though, the quality is fairly good considering the fantastic price and should certainly last a few years without any signs of wear.

If you have a budget of under £400, this is probably the best option. It’s a good all round hot tub with plenty of space for 4-5 people, more cosy with the retailers recommended 6 people but still a decent sized hot tub.

2. Mspa Alpine M-009LS 4 Person Inflatable Hot Tub

RUNNER UP

Buy on Amazon

MSPA Alpine Delight Inflatable Portable Hot Tub Outdoor Spa-4 Seaters

The Mspa Alpine M-009LS 4 Person Inflatable Hot Tub is a unique offering that swaps the ordinary round design seen with most inflatable hot tubs for a square shape that offers more seating space (more on this in a minute). This hot tub will seat 4 adults plus maybe two children, making it ideal for families and smaller groups.

  • The patented square shape offers more space than some round models and is perfect for up to 4 people.
  • Made of Rhino-Tech 6-layered PVC material for maximum rigidity and durability.
  • 108–132 dynamic bubble jets give your body a bubble massage.
  • Comfortable air-filled cushioning at the bottom for a more relaxing experience.
  • Up to 43C temperature when fully heated which is slightly warmer than most other models.
  • A quick set-up time of around 10 minutes including inflating time. Takes around 10 hours to heat up.
  • Dimensions: 158cm x 158cm x 68cm (62” x 62” x 27”).
  • Water capacity 650 litres.

Easy setup

Setting up the Mspa Alpine M-009LS couldn’t be easier. The auto-inflation takes about 2 minutes to inflate and the total set-up should be just under 20 minutes and 10 minutes once you have done it before and know how everything works. The fill time isn’t bad either, taking around 60 minutes in total. Furthermore, there’s an instructional DVD to guide you through the setup which is super handy as it helps you to get up and running without stress.

Solid construction

This inflatable hot tub is made from a durable, 6-layer reinforced PVC material that’s known as Rhino-Tech, and the also features vertical vinyl panels that provide enhanced rigidity in the walls. The tub is extremely stable in its inflated state so you won’t have any worry of the sides collapsing or the spa losing its shape.

Unique built in heating system and pump system is where this model excels

This model includes a pump and heater unit that is built into the tub wall, unlike the external heating systems that are common with most other inflatable hot tubs which have a big egg unit next to the hot tub. We really like this setup and it saves a lot of space, I can’t help wonder though what will happen if something develops a fault, only time will tell.

The heating system is controlled with a digital control panel that extends out and up from one side of the tub. Powered by a standard 110V outlet this heater is notably faster than other systems, heating water at approximately 2c per hour to reach a maximum of 43C in a reasonable time. The maximum temperature of the water in this tub is warmer than any other hot tub we have seen which generally only get to 40C.

A built-in air blower powers the bubble jets to offer a stream of bubbles and give your body a soothing bubble massage. You can adjust between 108 to 132 bubble jets through the control panel. It is worth noting that this is more air jets than our ‘Best Pick’ by Lazy-Z-Spa.

What’s included?

The Alpine M-009LS Hot Tub comes with a garden hose adapter for easy emptying. Another included accessory is a ground mat that is slightly larger than the tub’s footprint to ensure protection against scrapes and scratches. Don’t forget to put the ground mat down before filling. Then there is an inflatable cover with a foil lining for heat retention which works pretty well. The cover has latches that can be connected to straps on the ground mat to fully protect the hot tub.

Our recommendation

The Mspa Alpine M-009LS Inflatable Hot Tub is one of the inflatable hot tubs that depart from the predictable round design to a square shape which we like. However, it is a tight squeeze for four people despite the fact that it looks like being square would give you more room. Still is not a bad size overall.

The model is made from a high-quality PVC material with metallic liners that guarantee a solid inflated structure, which it does.

What we really like is the way the heater and pump are built into the hot tub so it doesn’t have a separate unit at the side. This seems a good idea but we are just not quite sure how this will work if something develops a fault. We also think that if you like the water as warm as possible, then this model would potentially be a better choice as it warms to 43C instead of 40C.

If you are shopping for a hot tub with a unique design, lots of seating, and whisper-quiet operation for a hot tub, then this model is an excellent choice.

3. Intex Pure 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub

Buy on Amazon

Intex 85 x 28-inch Purespa Bubble Massage Set

The Intex 6 person Pure Spa Hot Tub is large enough for a family and still offers enough room to share the party with friends. It measures 216 x 216 x 71cm (L x W x D) so is one of the larger hot tubs on this list and provides room for up to 6 people to share luxurious heat and bubbles. And whenever you have fewer mates around you can spread out for total relaxation.

  • Fits up to 6 people, making it perfect for relaxing with family and friends.
  • A simple control panel that’s easy to use especially for activating bubble jets and controlling the temperature.
  • Grab handles for ease of transport.
  • An integrated hard water treatment system makes water gentler on your skin for a soothing experience. Don’t forget if you live in a softwater area this won’t really be an advantage as the water is already soft.
  • Comes with a quality cover which helps minimise heat loss and lower running costs as well as keeping the water cleaner.
  • Intex Fiber-Tech technology used in construction ensures exceptional structural stability and durability.
  • Fairly large water capacity at 1098 litres and only takes around 90 minutes to fill.
  • Inner/Outer diameter: 165cm/216cm.
  • Bubble air blower: 800W / 220–240V.
  • The number of bubble jets: 140.
  • Temperature range: 20 – 40C.
  • Construction material: Laminate PVC ensures it strong and robust.
  • Includes 1-year guarantee for full peace of mind.

Simple control panel

The touch button controls are easily accessible from inside the Pure Spa and we think that they are better positioned than the Lazy-Spa control panel is. Anyway, this allows you to activate the 140 bubble jets and adjust the temperature to your preferences without leaving the comfort of the hot tub or having to stretch. Even the filtration system is activated or deactivated via the control panel. Simply put, every setting is at the touch of a button.

An integrated hard water treatment system is useful if you live in a hard water area.

Hard water can block skin pores leaving it dry and irritated. Maybe more importantly, over time it can also degrade the filtration system just like it does on washing machines and dishwashers. The built-in hard water treatment system generates an electromagnetic field that agitates dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium, causing them to create suspended crystals and leaves behind soothing, soft water. So the system will protect you and the spa. This could be well worth taking into account if you live in a hard water area where this could potentially cause issues down the line with your hot tub. Top tip, you can check online with the water companies to see what hardness your water is. A quick search on google will bring this up for you.

Strong Fiber-Tech construction

The PureSpa is designed to offer remarkable structural stability and a comfortable relaxing surface at the same time. This owes to the patented Fiber-Tech construction that consists of thousands of high-strength strands. Combined with laminate PVC, the result is a heavy-duty outer surface that is puncture-resistant and should last longer than ordinary spas. We also like that because of the design of the 48 Fiber-Tech beams on the sidewalls you can comfortably sit on the side without it dipping. There are also 140 bubble jets built into the body for a therapeutic experience.

Portability and storage

Being able to grab the spa by its handles and change location is another big plus. The spa even comes with a carry bag for better storage and transportation. Also supplied is an inflation hose to enable you to enjoy the Pure Spa anywhere you may take it.

What else is included?

There is a fully insulated and lockable safety cover that can be used to retain heat for spontaneous use or for keeping away unwelcome guests. Another important part of this spa is a ground cloth which is needed to protect the unit against scrapes and punctures. It also acts as an insulation layer between the spa and the ground, perfect in cool weather.

Our recommendation

There is so much to love about the Intex Pure 6 Person Hot Tub. The size obviously is a massive advantage over other smaller models, though not everyone wants to invite a gang of mates to their inflatable hot tub. For a couple, this spa offers acres of space for delightful moments.

The construction is to the highest standards and we really love the sturdy side walls as they can comfortably support someone sitting on them. This is a good test to check how sturdy a hot tub really is.

The built-in hard water treatment system is such an indispensable asset of the PureSpa, especially if you live in a hard water area.

You will find it super easy to move, transport or store, thanks to the side handles and carry bag, don’t forget to let it fully dry out before storing it away or it will likely become mouldy and be much harder to clean next time you come to use it.

All in all, this portable hot tub is perfect for families and groups of all ages. Although the price is on the higher end than some other models, you will appreciate that the package includes plenty of accessories and you get a good quality hot tub that is made to last.

4. Lay-Z-Spa 1-2 Person Siena Hot Tub

BEST COUPLES PICK

Buy on Amazon

Lay-Z-Spa Hawaii AirJet Square 180 x 180 x 71 cm Inflatable Whirlpool

The Lay-Z-Spa Siena Hot Tub has been specially designed with couples in mind and the execution itself is fantastic. We really do love the design of this hot tub. Lazy-Spa decided to go for an odd shape that mimics a large canoe as opposed to a conventional round design, and the result is a hot tub that allows users to sit on either end facing each other which we think is brilliant. Add the drinks and refreshments tray and you’ve got an elegant hot tub for romantic evenings.

  • Perfect for a couple to relax.
  • Quick and easy setup without tools or any special knowledge.
  • Outstanding shape and design that is perfect for two people.
  • Comes with a floor mat for underside protection.
  • Also comes with a cover for keeping water warm when you are not using the tub.
  • Massage system with 127 air jets for maximum relaxation.
  • Rapid heating system with an automatic timer to customise your bathing schedule.
  • Built-in water filtration system ensures clean and healthy water.
  • Durable tub made of TriTech material and I-Beam construction.
  • Water capacity: 509L.
  • Inflated dimensions: 98 x 59 x 66 inches.
  • Maximum temperature: 40C.

Exceptional TriTech Material and I-Beam construction

The Siena is made of a material called TriTech which is highly durable and still comfortable to lean on. The walls feature internal I-Beam construction consisting of a series of multiple PVC panels that provide strength and sturdiness. The tough exterior combined with adequate cushioning on the inside plus proper care should see this hot tub last for years.

Decent size and capacity

Whilst many round models are around 6ft in diameter, the Siena is 98 inches long – just over 8ft. Add another foot outwards for access on either side and you have a tub over 10ft long. The width itself is 6ft. That means you may have to check if you have enough space to install this hot tub.

It holds 509 litres when filled, giving a maximum weight of around 1200 pounds. This is actually lighter than even many other 2-person models, making the Siena a great choice for putting on a decking area where you might or been worried about weight, with most correctly installed decking areas this shouldn’t be a problem anyway.

Built-in water filtration system

It’s important that you bathe in clean water and the Siena meets this objective through an integrated water filtration system. It includes two filter cartridges and a filter housing compartment. The filters along with a chemical floater work to maintain clean water that is disinfected and safe for use.

Rapid heating system with Auto Timer

The hot tub can heat to 40C max and there is an automatic timer feature that lets you set when you need the heater to work. In fact, you can set the tub to suit your schedule so that you can always go in at your convenient time when the temperature is perfect.

Powerful air jets

You and your significant other can enjoy full body massage thanks to the strategically placed 127 air jets. These shoot out thousands of bubbles targeting every part of your body to soothe aching muscles and help you relax. Simply press the massage button on the control panel to trigger the magic.

What’s more? The serious length of this tub is also great for someone to stretch out in total comfort, making it perfect for hydrotherapy. So if you need a portable hot tub for health reasons, the Siena is your perfect match.

Tool-free setup

This model can be set up in three easy steps; lay it out on a flat surface, plug it in and inflate. Furthermore, it comes with a DVD that you can walk you through the process as well as provide care and maintenance tips. Inflating the tub takes about 10 minutes and then it’ll take around 2 hours to fill with water.

What’s included?

There’s a separate protective ground mat that must be laid out before the actual hot tub. Whilst the underside is safe from damage, the top can be secured by a supplied leatheroid inflatable cover, which is especially useful in keeping the water hot when the tub is not being used.

Our recommendation

Hands down the best inflatable hot tub for couples! Not only does it fit two people, the canoe-style shape justifies the purpose, allowing you to sit facing each other or even side by side.

Once the water hits your pre-set temperature, simply remove the cover and slide into the hot water. The digital control panel is conveniently placed just outside the tub so that you won’t need to get out to input your desired settings or activate the massage system.

Speaking of massage, this hot tub gives an all-over massage through its 127 air jets which are strategically located to target your muscles. You may decide to attach the refreshments tray to have some soft drink or bottled water at hand and stay hydrated.

All things considered, the Lay-Z-Spa Siena Hot Tub is an excellent pick for lovebirds to let loose, enjoy a massage, and relax.

5. Lay-Z-Spa Palm Springs HydroJet Inflatable Hot Tub

Buy on Amazon

Lay-Z-Spa BW54144 Palm Springs HydroJet Hot Tub, Inflatable Spa, 4-6 Person

The Lay-Z-Spa Palm Springs HydroJet Hot Tub is one of our ultimate favourite models but it comes at a price and the main reason is the Hydrojet design.

Not only is it one of the only inflatable hot tubs which takes advantage of new powerful HydroJets (learn more further down) and these give a much better and more fulfilling massage experience, epecially when compared to standard micro air jets which are fitted to most other models.

  • New superior HydroJet water massage system – features 8 powerful flow-adjustable and directional water jets which give a superior massage experience.
  • Relax in pure comfort in water temperatures up to 40°C (104°F).
  • Very easy to set up in as little as 10 minutes.
  • Comfortably fits 5-6 people in, making it perfect for relaxing couples or chilling with family and friends.
  • ‘TriTech’ and I-Beam construction for extra strength, durability and puncture resistance.
  • Very easy to use thanks to its digital control panel to activate the jets, set the water temperature as well as set the timer system.
  • Includes Setup DVD, Filter Cartridges & Chemical Floater.
  • Inflated size: 196cm x 71cm (77″ x 28″).
  • Water Capacity (80%): 795L (210 Gal).
  • Power cable length: 7 meters.
  • 12 months warranty included with the option to increase by 6 months by registering online for free.

You can have it set up in only 10 minutes, simply lay out the (included) air padded floor, this provides cushioning as well as helping insulate the floor of the hot tub which helps retain the water temperature.

Put the hot tub on top of the mat a inflate using the included pipes and pump, after a short while it will be fully inflated and ready to fill with water.

Once filled with water, the rapid heating system heats the water up to 40°C (104°F) which takes around 12-24 hours depending on how cold the water is when filled.

New superior HydroJet water massage system

The Palm Springs HydroJet has 8 powerful, flow-adjustable, directional water jets, simply twist the jets to adjust the pressure to your needs and tilt the nozzles to aim them where you prefer, this combines for a superior massage experience which is not possible with standard micro water jets you see on most other inflatable hot tubs.

The Palm Springs HydroJjet also comes with a digital control panel, operating the control panel is very easy and you can use the control panel to set the temperature to your desired liking as well as controlling the unique Lay-Z-Spa HydroJet system.

You can also use the control panel to schedule when the hot tub heater system is activated, it also has a handy storage compartment for storing any chemicals and other products.

The Palm Springs HydroJet is constructed using ‘TriTech’ 3 layer ply wall design, this offers extra durability and strength and has a much better puncture resistance.

Because it is manufactured using a very strong I-Beam Construction, you can sit on the sides of the hot tub without it bending or buckling under the pressure. This is a great advantage because, with many models, this simply is not possible as the sides are not stable enough.

What’s included?

To keep the hot tub clean and warm when not in use, it comes with a leatheroid cover and an inflatable lid, this is easy to fasten and for extra safety, it has double lock safety clips.

Also included in the set is an air pad floor, this sits under the hot tub (before setting up) and provides cushioning and insulation to help keep the water warm.

Also comes with a setup and maintenance DVD to guide you through the setup of your hot tub and how to use it.

Our recommendation

The Lay-Z-Spa Palm Springs HydroJet is probably the best inflatable hot tub available in terms of quality and massage experience.

The only reason this hot tub spa was not the winner of our ‘Best Pick’ is because of its higher price tag and this may not be within everyone’s budget.

What makes this model far better than any other model we have reviewed is the powerful 8 HydroJet massage jets. They are simply fantastic and far better than standard air jets fitted to other models. The other big advantage is the in-built electrostatic system which turns salt into chlorine, this is a great feature as there is very little work required and surprisingly, the water does not taste of salt as you may think. It’s also very good for your skin.

HydroJets are usually installed on fixed hot tubs so its nice to see that Lay-Z-Spa have fitted them to this model.

If you are looking for the best massaging experience possible, as well as a very low maintenance option where you don’t need to add chemicals, then this inflatable hot tub is a perfect choice.

Simply put, the Palm Spring HydroJet Hot Tub is unbeatable in terms of quality and performance is hard to beat.

Thanks to its very low maintenance and easy to install design, no professional skills are needed and it only takes around 10 minutes to set up. If you have never set one up before, give yourself an extra 5 or 10 minutes to get familiar with it. Once you have done it a couple of times, you can have it set up in no time. Simply lay it out on a flat surface ensuring there is adequate space for the 196cm x 71 cm (77″ x 28″) hot tub.

Once inflated and filled with water, the rapid heating system will heat the water up to a blissful 40°C (104°F) and the 120 all-surrounding air jets produce a cloud of bubbles for the most relaxing, drift away experience. A quick tip from us is to fill with warm water is possible to speed up the heating process.

Thanks to the digital control panel operating the Palm Springs Hot Tub is very easy. The control panel set the temperature to your desired liking as well as controlling the Lay-Z-Spa Massage Airjet System for the perfect relaxation feeling.

Finally, the control panel can be used to schedule when the hot tub heater system comes on. This is perfect for ensuring the heater system is only on when needed saving both energy and reducing the running cost. This feature is not installed on all hot tubs and is often a welcomed feature.

What truly separates this model from many cheaper alternatives (as well as some of the more expensive models) is the manufacturing quality. Firstly it looks fantastic thanks to its leather appearance and colour. Constructed using what Lay-Z, call ‘TriTech’ refers to the strong 3 layer ply wall design that offers extra durability and strength and also ensures it is as puncture-resistant as possible.

The I-Beam construction method is very impressive and what this basically means is that you can sit on the sides of the hot tub without it bending or buckling under pressure. You cannot do this with all hot tubs, especially cheaper models.

One final feature which should never be overlooked is the filtration system. This model is fitted with a water filtration system which ensures the water is kept clean for a truly enjoyable clean experience. The filter housing holds two filter cartridges which filter the water as it passes through the system continuously.

Just like any inflatable hot tub, it is still essential that you use spa chemicals such as Clearwater Chemicals or chlorine tablets to keep the water safe.

What’s included?

To keep the hot tub clean and warm when not in use, it comes with leatheroid cover and an inflatable lid. This is easy to fasten and for extra safety, it also has double lock safety clips. Included in the set is an air padded floor, this goes under the hot tub (before setting up) and provides cushioning as well as insulation to keep the water warm.

Also included is 1 chemical floater, 2 filter cartridges and a setup and maintenance DVD to guide you through the setup of your hot tub although it’s that simple it is probably not needed.

Running Cost

Running cost a little hard to estimate, however with moderate use it would cost approximately £10-15 per month to run. Please bear in mind that it depends on how much you pay per kWh for your electricity.

Our recommendation

The Lay-Z-Spa Palm Springs may cost a little more than smaller alternatives such as the Miami Hot Tub. However, if you got the extra budget you get a lot more hot tub for your money with this inflatable hot tub model.

The construction quality is very impressive and seems like it has been built to last. You should get at least a few years out of it, if not more if it is looked after properly. It does seem better quality and sturdier than the smaller Miami hot tub.

Just remember to buy the starter pack which should have everything you need to get started and it is also worth getting a couple of spare filters. You can see the Clearwater Lay-Z Chemical Starter Kit here, which we recommend.

If you are after a hot tub that holds 6 people or less and looking for something to compare our ‘Best Pick’ against, then we highly recommend considering The Palm Springs hot tub over most other models on the market. Just like other more expensive hot tubs the Miami is designed to be low maintenance and is very easy to install. It seems to take most people only 10-15 minutes to get set up and inflated using the included pump. Simply lay it out on a flat surface ensuring there is adequate space and no sharp objects and most importantly a smooth surface.

Filling with water generally takes 2-4 hours depending on your hose pressure. Once filled with water, the rapid heating system heats the water to your desired temperature up 40°C (104°F) and the 81 all-surrounding air jets around the edge of the floor produce a cloud of bubbles for a relaxing spa experience.

Like most models, it features a digital control panel for operating the Miami Hot Tub which is super easy to use. You can set the temperature to your desired liking as well as controlling the Lay-Z-Spa Massage Airjet System which produces hundreds of soothing bubbles for relaxing in and giving you a sensational massage.

By using the timer control system on the control panel, you can schedule when the hot tub rapid heating system comes on so you can have it ready for a time to suit you.

The Miami is constructed using Rayon coated outer walls for added puncture resistance and the 48 sturdy vertical I-Beams ensure extra durability and strength.

The Lay-Z-Spa Miami hot tub is also fitted with a water filtration system which ensures your water is kept clean for a truly enjoyable clean experience. The filter housing holds two filter cartridges which combine to filter water as it passes through the filters. Just like any inflatable hot tub, it is still essential that you use spa chemicals such as Clearwater Chemicals to keep the water safe.

What’s included?

To help keep the heat in and debris out, it comes with an inflatable lid that can be easily tightly fastened and for extra safety, it features double lock safety clips.

Also included is a soft cushioned floor that sits underneath the hot tub (before setting up) and provides cushioning and insulation to help keep the water warm.

Also included is 1 chemical floater, 2 filter cartridges and a setup and maintenance DVD to guide you through the set up of your hot tub.

Our recommendation

The Lay-Z-Spa Miami Inflatable Hot Tub offers the best value for money from all the hot tubs we have reviewed and is a real bargain.

If you are looking to get your very first hot tub and are just getting started, then this model is an excellent choice. This is assuming that you don’t expect to accommodate more than four people.

To give you a good idea on size, if you want to spread out and stretch your legs then two people can use it comfortably no problem, however 4 people would be a bit more of a squeeze.

Quality-wise, it is fit for purpose, however I don’t feel it is as well made as the larger Palm Springs model. During our research, we looked at other reviews and noticed that some of the negative comments were referring to punctures. This is interesting as we were also were concerned about this being a potential problem.

We concluded that if looked after correctly and with a little care, punctures should not be a problem.

If you are looking to buy an inflatable hot tub on a budget, then the Lazy-Z-Spa Miami Hot Tub is probably your best choice and we feel it is excellent value for money all things considered.

Unlike the budget hot tub which uses a horizontal ring construction, the Paris uses a sturdy vertical I-Beam construction which means it durable yet still very strong and firm.

Our recommendation

The Lay-Z-Spa Paris Hot Tub is a fantastic piece of kit. The LED lighting looks amazing and really does make it a focal point in the garden.

It has been made to an excellent standard and it’s good to see they have used the more superior I-Beam construction with this model and not the cheaper horizontal ring construction.

This hot tub is (we feel) well priced, especially when you take into account it is a larger 4-5 person spa and slightly larger than the similar Vegas model.

If you like the LED lighting system, then you won’t be disappointed as its an amazing piece of kit and looks amazing when lit up.

Accessories worth considering for your inflatable hot tub

1. Perfect Pools Spa Bar Inflatable Hot Tub Side Tray

Buy on Amazon

Perfect Pools Spa Bar Inflatable Hot Tub Tray for Drinks and Snacks

You can agree with us that it can be a real hassle to keep getting in and out of your hot tub to fetch drinks and snacks. It shouldn’t be the case anymore if you can get a side tray to keep all your essential drinks within arm’s reach.

We recommend the Spa Bar inflatable side tray. With 8 cavities spread across its 28-inch diameter, it offers plenty of space for bottles, cans, and foodstuff. This makes it perfect for hot tub parties and gatherings.

Since it is inflatable, this tray can float on water even with your drinks on board. Alternatively, it can anchor securely to the side of a hot tub using its two water weighted chambers. When your relaxation is over, you can always carry the tray on its handles and pack it away.

We can’t overemphasise how crucial this tray can be to your relaxation, but you don’t have to get out and dry off every time you want a snack.

2. Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tub Canopy

Buy on Amazon

Lay-Z-Spa Canopy Hot Tub, Beige, 12 x 61 x 8 cm

Sometimes it gets too hot bathing under the sun and in other times the wind can be stubborn. Lay-Z-Spa has thought of these problems and come up with a solution. This solution is the Lay-Z-Spa hot tub canopy. It is exactly what it says, a canopy to provide a shield from the elements. Suitable for all Lay-Z-Spa models, the canopy couldn’t be easier to set up than erecting its tent poles and clipping it to your spa. Two guide ropes are included to keep the canopy even more safe and secure.

What makes it even better is that the canopy fabric is waterproof and UV treated to UPF30+ standards. So come rain or shine, you can relax in the back garden in complete peace of mind. The canopy is also easy to take down.

3. Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tub and Pool Gazebo Dome Enclosure

Buy on Amazon

Bestway Round Pool Dome Cover Tent for Swimming Pools and Hot Tubs, Outdoor Accesory 6m x 2.95m

Whether you want your hot tub to be a complete hideout spa, shield yourself totally from the elements or benefit from a top cover with a little breeze from the sides, the Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tub and Pool Gazebo Dome Enclosure does it all. This four-sided enclosure is able to open on all sides or close fully to suit your needs. It measures 390 x 390 x 255cm (D x W x H), so you must check the size of your hot tub beforehand.

You can set it up in minutes on any flat surface and it even comes with a carry bag for portability. A major benefit of this dome enclosure is that it can double up with a tub’s cover to help in heat retention.

4. Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tub Drinks and Food Holder

Buy on Amazon

Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tub Drinks and Food Holder, Inflatable Spa Accessory, White, 13.5x26.5x8 cm

Another drinks and food holder from Lay-Z-Spa and includes two drink holders and a food tray. It is compatible with all Lay-Z-Spa models apart from Monaco and can be installed anywhere on the top of the hot tub wall. The best part is that the drink holders can come off the main tray so that everyone can have their drink as close to them as possible. Additionally, this accessory is pretty much affordable and can meet a very important need since most inflatable hot tubs lack drinks and food holders.

Conclusion

As you have will have noticed by now, there is a lot to think about and even more hot tubs to choose from when selecting the best inflatable hot tub for you.

We do like the enclosed design of the Mspa Alpine M-009LS Inflatable Hot Tub as you don’t have the separate egg-shaped unit to find space for which all the other models have. That being said, what happens if something breaks? At least with the lazy spa you can get new parts and replace them, with the Mspa hot tub this could be much more of a hassle if this is even possible at all.

In the end, we think you can’t go wrong with the Lay-Z-Spa Vegas Hot Tub. It is a good size, very well built and comes at an affordable price. It isn’t the cheapest hot tub on the market but it is certainly affordable and one of the best inflatable hot tubs.

When we started our research, we wanted to find out which was truly the best model. However, it soon became clear that there were many fantastic models available at even more amazing prices, especially when compared to fixed hot tubs which can often cost well over £4000 and we don’t all have room for one of them or the budget.

In the end, we decided to show which models are the best, each in their own right, it all really depends on your budget as well as what features you want and the number of people who will use it. After all, LED lighting, powerful HydroJet  systems are not for everyone or necessarily needed.

  1. Great reviews – One thing you may wish to update though is that the Palm Springs Hydrojet (I have had one since 2017) no longer has a built in salt chlorinator – this was removed in mid to late 2017 so you are quite out of date on this aspect – other than that it is a great tub

Hi Graham, thanks for the feedback, a shame that feature has been removed we really thought it was a great idea, anyway, thanks for letting us know, I have now updated the post to mention it new models no-longer has the Built-In Salt Chlorinator
