Pyracantha coccinea

Pyracantha coccinea is a species from Europe and is very popular and can be trained against a wall or fence or used as a hedging plant.

The variety most associated with Pyracantha coccinea is ‘Red Column’ and it produces white flowers followed by red berries which last into the winter months making it an attractive shrub later in the season as well as being a attractive to the local wildlife and birds.

Pyracantha coccinea grows to around 8ft tall and is evergreen providing colour all year round, if used as a hedge they are best planted around 18″ to 2ft apart.
