If you’re without an oven, for whatever reason, you no longer have to eat just microwaved meals or takeaways. A mini oven with hob lets you bake, roast and boil the items in your meal.
Some of these ovens also let you grill and toast as well. And they take up little room on your counter. We look at mini ovens of various sizes that all come with two hobs on top. We discuss their pros, cons and features before we give our recommendations as to where they’re best used.
Our Buyer’s Guide goes into detail about the ONE thing you should be aware of before you choose which mini oven with hob is for you.

5 Best Mini Ovens with Hob reviews
1. NETTA 35L Electric Mini Oven with Double Hotplate
Best Pick
Buy on Amazon.co.uk
The NETTA 35L Electric Mini Oven with Double Hotplate is a compact stainless steel marvel that lets you cook, bake and grill your food in a small space.
The four dials for the temperature selection and the functions are arranged vertically down the right side of the front panel, next to the tempered clear glass door. The inside oven light lets you see how your food is coming along.
The temperature range for this NETTA oven is from 100°C to 230°C, marked in 45°C increments (the last one is a 50°C jump). You have the choice of using each hotplate individually or having them both on together. One hotplate has 600W of power and the other has 800W.
You can also have the oven and the plates on at the same time. But bear in mind that, whatever temperature the oven is set at applies to the hobs as well. This is not always practical. (See the Buyer’s Guide for more details.)
When you’re grilling, you have the option of the heat coming from the top of the oven, the bottom or from both directions at once. This lets you just melt the cheese on top of your toast or toast both sides of your bread at once.
We like that there’s a timer that lasts for a full 120 minutes. That’s suited for long-time cooking in the oven. But the timer is also the On switch, so you have to use it even if you’re just boiling something on the hotplates. But there’s a bell sound at the end of the timed period and the mini oven shuts itself off. You need to reset it (start the oven up again) if you’re cooking something for longer than two hours.
Pros
- Silver coloured, compact (35L) electric mini oven with two hot plates.
- Timer for up to 120 minutes.
- Light inside oven.

Our recommendation
The NETTA 35L Electric Mini Oven with Double Hotplate is a compact multi-functional cooking appliance that throws in the ability to grill along with baking and boiling. You can use the oven at the same time as the hotplates. And the two hour timer lets you cook roasts without having to worry about switching the oven on again. The light inside the oven lets you see everything that’s going on.
The NETTA 35L Electric Mini Oven with Double Hotplate is our choice for Best Pick in our review.

2. Russell Hobbs 22780 Mini Kitchen Multi-Cooker with Hotplates, 1920W
Runner-up
Buy on Amazon.co.uk
The Russell Hobbs 22780 Mini Kitchen Multi-Cooker with Hotplates, 1920W, is a sleek silver appliance with two hotplates on top. Unlike most other mini ovens, this one is fan assisted, which helps to reduce the time and power taken to cook food. The three dials down the right side of the front panel are where you select the cooking temperature and the functions to bake, roast, fry, boil and grill.
Note that with this mini oven you can’t use the oven and the hot plates at the same time – just pick one cooking method at a time. The temperature dial has the impressive range of 60°C to 230°C and the dial switches on and controls the oven. The temperature gauge is in 30° increments for better control of the internal heat.
The second dial is where you select either the grill or the hotplates. You can have the hotplates on individually or together, and the grill choice is heat from the top and/or the bottom. You should be aware that you can’t control the temperature of the electric plates. They have different power wattage (750W and 1000W) but they’re either on or off.
We like that there’s an internal oven light that illuminates what’s happening inside. And the timer is for a full two hours. However, some online reviewers state that there’s only a single bell-like ‘ding’ at the end of the pre-selected time that you might not hear if you’re not in the kitchen when it goes off.
Pros
- Silver coloured mini oven with two electric hobs on top.
- Grill, roast, bake, fry and boil with this oven.
- Fan assisted oven.
- Temperature range is 60°C to 230°C.
- Two hotplates (750W and 1,000W) can be used independently or together.
- Timer for up to 120 minutes with a bell sound at the end.
- Includes baking tray with removable handle and a wire rack.
- Two-year guarantee (extended to three years if register online).
- Dials for temperature and function on the right-hand side of the front panel.
- Internal oven light and power indicator light.
- Dimensions: 48.5(cm) width); 38.5cm (depth); and 36.5cm (height).
Cons
- Can’t use oven and hotplates at the same time.
- Can’t adjust temperature of the two hobs.
Our recommendation
The Russell Hobbs 22780 Mini Kitchen Multi-Cooker with Hotplates, 1920W is a basic mini oven with hob. It’s a good choice for those with very limited space for a cooking appliance and who wish mainly to heat up food or cook simple meals. The two hotplates can be used independently or together but not at the same time as the oven. The wide range of oven temperature lets you bake/roast things long and slow, supported by the two hour timer.
The Russell Hobbs 22780 Mini Kitchen Multi-Cooker with Hotplates, 1920W, is the Runner-up in this review of mini ovens with hob.

3. Tower T14044 Mini Oven (32L) with Dual Hot Plates
Buy on Amazon.co.uk
The Tower T14044 Mini Oven (32L) with Dual Hot Plates is a model with which you can use the hot plates and the oven at the same time. This helps you to have all elements of your meal ready at the same time.
This black convection mini oven has two different size plates on top. They’re 600W and 1000W so heat up differently. As the hot plates and the oven are linked, if you use them together, the hot plates are set to whatever temperature you select for the oven. So, if the oven is at 200°C, so are the hotplates. This is excessively hot to boil liquids at, so just be careful. Your temperature range selection is from 90°C to 230°C, which covers most everything you may want to cook.
You can also grill with this Tower T14044 mini oven. A dial lets you choose to use the heating element on the top, the bottom, or both for up and down grilling at the same time.
The timer starts the mini oven up, including if you just want to use the hotplates. You have a choice of times up to 90 minutes, marked in about four minute increments, so you can be quite accurate. The On indicator light is right by the timer dial to remind you that that’s how you start the unit up.
However, there’s a unique feature if you need more than 90 minutes of cooking time. The Stay On choice on the timer dial keeps the mini oven on until you manually turn it off. But you need to remember to do this otherwise your food will just keep on cooking, and eventually burning.
The inside oven light lets you watch your meal cooking away.
Pros
- Black convection mini oven (32L) with silver bar handle and two hobs on top.
- 90-minute timer ends with a bell sound.
- Bake, toast, grill and roast in this oven.
- Four dials on the right-hand panel for function and temperature.
- Two hot plates – 600W and 1000W – can be used individually or both at once.
- Temperature range is from 90°C to 230°C.
- Can use oven and hobs together.
- Three grill options – from above, below or from both directions.
- Comes with baking tray (with detachable handle) and a wire rack.
- Has an oven light.
Cons
Our recommendation
The Tower T14044 Mini Oven (32L) with Dual Hot Plates is a sophisticated mini oven with hob with which you can bake and boil at the same time. If you do use the oven and hotplates together, remember that the oven temperature also applies to the plates. The grill function is a welcome extra and the 90-minute timer lets you leave your meal cooking by itself.
We recommend the Tower 14044 if you can multitask cooking your meal.
4. Igenix IG7145 Mini Oven (45L) with Electric Double Hotplate Hob
Buy on Amazon.co.uk
The Igenix IG7145 Mini Oven with Electric Double Hotplate Hob is a model that does some things really well, yet leaves out one of the basics – a timer. This white mini oven with two hotplates has white dials down the right-hand side of the front panel for a cohesive look.
You can grill as well as bake and roast and boil with this unit. The temperature range is from 100°C to 220°C but this applies to just the oven. You can’t use the hotplates and the oven at the same time, so you have to juggle preparing the elements of your meal.
Your grilling choice is the usual – from the top and/or the bottom of your food. You don’t have to turn over the bread halfway through making your toast.
However, the hotplate arrangement is unlike the others in our review, and usefully so. Each hotplate has its own control dial and you have the choice of three heat settings for each hotplate. Use them individually or together and control whether you simmer, boil or something in-between on each one.
As we said, the one basic downside to this unit is that it doesn’t have a timer. But you probably have one at home anyway. Set it as you want but remember that when it goes off, you have to turn this mini oven off manually.
Pros
- Larger white mini oven (45L) with two rings on top.
- Bakes, grills and roasts.
- Temperature range is 100°C to 220°C.
- Comes with an aluminium baking tray (detachable handle) and a wire rack.
- Two hotplates available individually, each with three heat settings.
- Three grilling directions (top, bottom, both).
- Dimensions: 55cm (width); 31cm (depth); and 40cm (height).
Cons
- Can’t use oven and hob at the same time.
- No timer.
- Hob takes a while to heat up.
Our recommendation
The Igenix IG7145 Mini Oven with Electric Double Hotplate Hob is a good choice if you frequently cook on a hotplate, with occasional baked or roasted foods. Having separate heat controls for the hotplates means that you can use them for foods that need different heats to boil or simmer. The grill function is useful as is the 45L capacity that’s large enough for a huge chicken.
5. Cooks Professional 34L Mini Oven & Hob
Buy on Amazon.co.uk
The Cooks Professional 34L Mini Oven & Hob is a black unit with two hotplates. You can grill as well as bake, roast and boil with this mini oven, selecting all that you need from the silver dials on the right hand side of the front.
The temperature range covers the usual 100°C to 220°C, letting you bake or roast in most recipes. The two hotplates are of different sizes and there’s an indicator light for each on the control panel letting you know which one is on. We haven’t noticed this on other models.
Grilling offers the usual directional heat from above, below or both for quick cooking. You won’t have to turn your bacon over mid-way with this mini oven’s grill. The timer is located next to the power on light which is appropriate as you need to set the timer to turn the unit on. You have up to 60 minutes on the timer before the oven turns itself off. So, if you’re cooking something that takes longer, you need to be around to restart things.
Note that there’s no information from the manufacturer as to whether you can use the hotplates and the oven at the same time. We suspect that you can’t.
Pros
- Black mini convection oven (34L) with two hobs on top.
- Heat, bake, roast, grill in this oven.
- Temperature range of 100°C to 220°C.
- Timer is for 60 minutes and ends with a bell.
- Comes with roasting dish with detachable handle and a wire rack.
- Four silver dials down the right-hand side for function and timing.
- Internal oven light.
- Built-in crumb tray in oven.
- Dimensions: 51cm (width); 39cm (depth); and 33cm (height);
Cons
- Gets hot on top when oven on.
- Timer marks are in 10 minute increments.
Our recommendation
The Cooks Professional 34L Mini Oven & Hob is a bit of a mystery, though it has received many good reviews. We’re not sure whether you can use the oven and the electric plates at the same time. We like that it has a grill function (not all mini ovens do) and also comes with a built-in crumb tray. The temperature range is sufficient for most recipes and the 60-minute timer covers most cooking situations.
Buyer’s Guide for Mini Ovens with Hobs
During the review process we came across many online reviewers who expressed concern/surprise/bafflement as to how the oven and the hotplates of the mini oven with hob are tied together. We looked into this and it is confusing. So we put together this Buyer’s Guide that explains this simply.
The one thing to know before you know anything else
On most models of a mini oven with hob there’s no On/Off switch. Using the timer turns the unit on, whether you’re using the oven and/or the hotplates. The timer turns the unit off when the time is up and makes a bell-like sound. Some units have a Stay On feature in case you need the oven on for longer than the maximum timer period. So remember to set the timer to start the power.
The big ONE thing you must know before you buy a mini oven with hob
Most models of mini oven with hob have tied the oven and the hotplates together. The good part of this is that you can use the oven part and the hotplates (either individually or both at once) at the same time. The not-so-good part is that the hotplates and the oven usually work off the same thermostat.
In many of these units, the temperature selection dial sets the temperature of both the oven and of the hotplates. This works well if you’re not using the hotplates at the same time as the oven. A setting of, say, 200°C for the oven is fine. But if you’re also using the hotplates, they’ll also be set to a temperature of 200°C and that’s hot even when you’re boiling water. You can use whatever temperature you want if you’re using just the hotplates and they’ll heat to that.
It gets a little more confusing if you’re using both hotplates at the same time, regardless of whether the oven is on too. Both hotplates are set to the same selected temperature even if they’re different sizes/power. So your, say, 600W hotplate will heat to the same temperature as your, say, 1,000W hotplate but just get there slower.
Some models in our review have separated the use of the oven and the hotplates. The good news here is that you control the temperature of these separately. The downside is that you can’t use the oven and the hotplates at the same time – choose onefunctionor the other.
And there’s more. You can use both hotplates together or just one at a time. Of these separated models, some give you a choice of temperatures for the hotplates and others just let you have a set temperature – they’re either On or Off.
And one more thing to know
The power indicator light on the mini oven with hob (usually) tells you that the unit is on. It doesn’t show that the oven has reached the selected temperature – there’s no indicator for that.
There’s no doubt that a mini oven with hob is a useful kitchen appliance to have. We just want you to understand how they work so you won’t be surprised.
Final Conclusion
If you have limited access to cooking appliances, whether at home, on vacation or at university, a mini oven with hob provides many of the cooking methods you need to create healthy and flavourful meals. Bake, roast, heat-up and boil, and perhaps even grill and toast, on these convenient appliances. They’re about as large as a microwave so fit onto a countertop or table in most places. We review a variety of sizes of these units for all needs.
Our Best Pick is the NETTA 35L Electric Mini Oven with Double Hotplate. This oven lets you bake, roast, boil and grill, use the oven at the same time as the hotplates and has a two-hour timer.
Russell Hobbs (30L) 22780 Mini Kitchen Multi-Cooker with Hotplates (1920 W) is our Runner-up in this review. This is a more basic oven in that you can’t use the hotplates and the oven together.
